The literary mechanism is managed by five teachers of whom one is a Ph.D., two are M.Philians, one has been qualified in SET and the other is in the unaided stream. The first four are in the approved regular vacancies and the faculty members are specialized in Poetic Translation, Linguistic Study, American Fiction, Canadian Fiction and Indian Fiction. The department teaches English as a Foundation Course for students of all First and Second Year Classes of the Under-Graduate Courses. The departmental Computer and the Printer are coming half way in effectuating the teaching-learning process.

The staff members officiate as Examiners in English extending their committed support to Thiruvalluvar University in evaluating students knowledge of English. Students of all First year classes are exposed to Bridge Course in English as many of them have had their schooling in Tamil. One of the faculty is setting Question Papers for some Autonomous Colleges in the district. He is also an Examiner for such Examinations and one of the Chief Examiners in English of Thiruvalluvar University. A Major Research Project in his name is in the offing as the proposals have already been finalized and sent to the University Grants Commission.

The department lays meaningful emphasis on the communication skills of students by drawing their ardent attention to the Compact Discs, Cassettes and books on Spoken English readily available in the departmental library. Students are extended the privilege of borrowing two books at a time. They are trained to win Prizes in Inter-Class, Inter-Collegiate and National-Level Competitions in Quiz, Oratory, Essay and News reading in English. They are driven to bask in the floodlight of Interviews by furnishing all necessary details about the frequently tested areas.

Students of all First year under-graduate classes are trained in soft skills to make their indelible mark in the job market. The department organizes every year an Inter-Collegiate Essay-Contest in English on communication skills and the winners are presented Alijanab Alhaj S.M.Abdul Jameel Sahib Cash Prizes or books. The department conducts personal tutorials and remedial classes for the benefit of slow learners and supplementary students.

To propagate and popularize Gandhian thought among students, the department conducts every year a State-Level Examination on the selfless services of Mahatma Gandhi organized by Gandhi Study Centre, Chennai. Hundreds of students take the Exam every year and get through, each pocketing a First Class. To develop the spirit of compassion towards all creatures, the department Organizes every year a State-Level Examination in English sponsored by Karuna International and Ahimsa Foundation, Chennai, in which the students are constantly winning Cash Prizes worth thousands of rupees. The department encourages students by training them in the art of penning articles in English for the College online Newspaper, Hakeem Times, published in collaboration with the English Daily, The Deccan Chronicle. The department has its revered representation in the college Students Grievance Redressal and Welfare Cell and in the college NAAC Committee.
